Alejandro Muñoz Ossa works with fire. Not as a finish, but as the hand that shapes the work — wood carved and then given to flame, until the grain hardens, blackens, and holds. What survives the burning is what he keeps.

His sculpture returns, again and again, to fire as the element of origin and end: the force that first lit human curiosity and still contains, within it, the power to create and to consume. From that single idea grows a vocabulary of forms — disappeared cities and fire landscapes, spheres and blades and standing shapes, each one a fragment of matter testifying to the flame that made it. The work is dark, elemental, and quiet; it carries the memory of the tree inside the char.

His encounter with Lascaux is a natural one. Where the studio designs from heritage, matter and the meeting of opposites, Muñoz Ossa brings the oldest opposite of all — the fire that is both beginning and ruin. In Huesos, his carving and his flame give the studio's drawing a body: wood submitted to fire, gathered under stone.

Based in Medellín, Muñoz Ossa trained in visual and plastic arts in the city and has exhibited across Colombia, including at the Museo de Arte Moderno and Museo El Castillo. He works under the name Fragmentaria.
